Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Warriors Journey Foundation Scholarship is open to students who are entering or currently enrolled in an Allied Health Program at Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University.

  • You must be accepted to an Allied Health program at West Texas A&M University or Amarillo College.

    You must have a 3.25 GPA or higher.

  • No. Anyone who meets the eligibility requirements is encouraged to apply.

    However, because our foundation was established in memory of Adolfo O’Con and is dedicated to supporting families affected by colorectal cancer, applicants with a personal connection to colorectal cancer may receive additional consideration.

  • Applications are reviewed by the Foundations Scholarship Committee using a holistic approach that considers:

    • Academic achievement

    • Leadership

    • Community involvement

    • Personal essay responses

    • Commitment to the medical profession

    • Alignment with the Foundation’s mission

  • Scholarship amounts may vary each year based on fundraising efforts and available funding.

  • For the Fall semesters, applications open May 1 and close July 1.

    For Spring semesters, applications open September 1 and close November 1.

  • Recipients will be contacted by email and phone using the contact information provided in their application.

  • Scholarship funds are typically paid directly to the recipient’s college or university to be applied toward educational expenses.
